SCYPAN Children & Young Peoples Awards Ceremony 2019

This year’s SCYPAN Children & Young Peoples Awards took place on Wednesday 13th November at the Shildon Civic Hall. This year saw 26 Nominations, including 4 groups and 22 individuals, with the Sports & Physical activity award being the most Nominated Category with a total of 5 nominees.

The evening was well attended by over 170 guests including Nominees, Nominators, Local Councillors, School groups and Judges. The Community Safety Group kindly sponsored the provision of this year’s trophies. Carol Fletcher (Community Safety Group) was on hand to present along with the guest Judges including Town Mayor Cllr Peter Quinn, Cllr Shirley Quinn, Malcolm Gray (Livin), Cllr Garry Huntington & Laura Peaker (Greenfields Arts). This year we introduced the new ‘Henry Nicholson Can Do’ Award, Henry was a town councillor and recently passed away, his daughters Cllr Rachael Anderson and Cllr Louise Mather presented this award to very deserving winners.

The evening got off to a wonderful start with a speakers from St Johns C of E Primary School children followed by CATS Youth Theatre Group Keira O’Brien, Sienna Birkett & Molly Hewitt performed to the guests. Derrick Robinson did a fabulous role as always as compare for the evening and got the presentations under way.
