Posted on August 7 2018
Wow what a day, sun came and stayed for the Fun4All Partnership Event 2018, ensuring a fabulous warm day for those attending. There were lots of things to try, buy, watch and do for all members of the family, from the climbing wall, for those with a head for heights, cooking demonstrations from Little Chef, Big Chef CIC utilising food waste donated by Shildon Alive, which was a great success and the Knuckle Headz MCC for bringing their spectacular bikes and trikes for all to see. The Big Purple Play Bus (AYCC Auckland Youth & Community Centre) had 400 hundred visits from the younger children during the event.
Dot and Zooky, shared their circus know how, hula hooping, helped the more daring to walk the tight rope and were absolutely bubbletastic!!
There were strange and unusual animal friends to meet with Crazy Creatures, and more traditional furies with the Farmyard Flyer from cute chicks to piggy’s and not forgetting their resident Alpacas ‘Toby and Caramac’ who always steal the show.
A huge thank you to all of the organisation’s who provided the children’s activities and entertainment 2B-Fit- Boot Camp, Diane Rewcastle Face Painting & Emzil’s Spray Tattoo Artists, Foundation of Light-Mini Kicks Football & Speed Cage and not forgetting the Lego area where even big kids could get creative as well as get inspired with the fantastic models on display.
Thank you also to Shildon Branch of the Royal British Legion for the Pipe and Drums performance and to CATS our local Young Peoples Theatre Group for their performance which got the crowd warmed up.
Thanks also to Bishop Auckland Fire and Rescue Service, Shildon Local Police Team, Neighbourhood Wardens and the staff from Durham County Council from the Time Limited Project who kindly brought Tidy Ted and Scoopy along to meet and greet the crowds.
Thank you to the Town Mayor Cllr. Luan Deakin for opening the event; to Derrick Robinson and Volunteer Josh for the PA.
Finally, my last thanks are to the residents of Shildon who attended the event in record numbers this year, to all our partners who supported and funded the event and lastly the staff from Shildon Town Council’s - Direct Works Team- for keeping Hackworth Park clean, tidy and beautiful for us all to use and who provide a massive effort to deliver and dismantle this event. Thank you all for your hard work.
