Thursday 19th April saw staff from Shildon Alive, a St John’s Church Project working in partnership with Shildon Town Council to support 17 nursery children from Byerley Road Pre-School to engage in a litter pick in Hackworth Park. This litter Pick was made possible by a grant application to the Neighbourhood Budget of Cllr Henry Nicholson and supported by Bishop Auckland & Shildon AAP.  The grant covered the purchase of Litter Picking Equipment & two Animal character Litter Bins which are now located in the Children’s Natural Play Area in Hackworth park.

The children met at the Masonic Hall end of Surtees Way, Hackworth Park and litter picked there way back to the under 5’s play area, taking in the Skate Park, Older Children’s play area and ending up in the Children’s Natural Play Area where they met Cllr. Henry Nicholson & staff from BASH AAP for the cheque handover which made this litter pick possible and a lovely photo too.
